Razorblade Tears Review

What would you do for your kids?

Razorblade Tears by SA Cosby is a powerful and emotional story about two men grieving the death of their sons. It follows Buddy Lee and Ike Randoplh as they are seeking revenge for their sons, Derek and Isaiah, who were married and brutally murdered. They have nothing in common, except the pain of grief.

This story evoked feelings of sorrow, anger, and the desperate need for closure. I read this over the span of a week or a week and a half. Even when I was not reading, this story stayed on my mind.

If you enjoy deep, emotional, and character driven books- this is a perfect read. I loved how this book was a different take on a thriller. It did not involve solving a mystery, a serial killer, or portrayed someone who just snapped. This story told a tale of justice for their children. Razorblade Tears touched on grief, LGBTQ+ identity, family, and healing.

The pacing and details were well balanced. The flashbacks in the story gave great insight into their past as fathers. The characters were flawed but realistic. I felt like I knew a Buddy Lee or an Ike Randoplh. Although Isaiah and Derek are gone before the story began, I could still relate to them. Cosby still gives them presence, humanity, and empathy. All of these characters felt real and not just fictionalized.

The chapters were not long and paced with a good momentum. The action in this book had me turning pages to get more! This book was filled with suspense and page turners over the course of 45 chapters.. The characters felt familiar and were easy to imagine. I rate Razorblade Tears 5/5 stars. This book is in my top 5 favorite reads of 2025. I cannot recommend this book enough. SA Cosby did an amazing job crafting a story that cuts deep and stays with you until the final page.
